The Inner Sherpa

Poem

TALE OF A WAVELET

TALE OF A WAVELET

I posture myself to be an unpretentious wavelet
Bobbling around in the vast oceanic body.
My liquid cradle is rocked back and forth
By Mother Moon’s rhythmic tidal pull.

I relish the invigorating marine air.
At the apex of each inhale,
I fluidly stretch to my limits,
Suspended in time for a blissful interval
Before being swallowed up once again
In the aquatic immenseness
As I can no longer hold my breath.
I inhale and I exhale; I stretch and I recoil.

When the great Maestro dyes the ether navy blue,
I splash about on my back without a care in my world
Until my sun-kissed ecstasy is rudely disrupted
By the sudden intrusion of a galloping swell.

Shaken out of my sun-gazing stupor and
Irreverently airlifted toward rocky formations,
I ready myself for a foamy crash landing
Screaming a hasty prayer to the Powers-that-be.

Cast ashore and thoroughly winded,
My salty resilience keeps burnout at bay.
I drag my achy self back to its birthing place
Overcome by relief for this new lease on life.
I belong to the oceanic expansiveness
Ever returning to the comfort of its titanic bosom.

Propelled by the life force of the cosmic heartbeat,
I find myself transported to a bottomless abyss
Where I get an overwhelming sense of ineffable plenitude.

In unison with the orchestra of my water world peers
We improvise mighty renditions with Wagnerian undertones
Underscored with bursts of thunder and bolts of lightning
And thoroughly drenched in melodious harmonics.

Once the stormy soul-building elements have subsided
And the waters have regained their crystal-clear composure,
My gaze comes to rest on colorful coral formations.
.
My kundalini comes out of its extended slumber
Blessing me with out-of-this-world inner fireworks.
It shoots its illuminating trail up to the center of my brain,
Blasting wide open a gateway to spiritual enlightenment
Unleashing my God-given powers of manifestation,
And turning the stage of my life into a field of dreams and wonders.

I now roar like a fearless lion.
I have been initiated into the Tribe of David.
