The Inner Sherpa

RADICAL MAKEOVER

Radical Makeover

My bruised heart is so tender
That tears flow unprompted
Flushing out years of containment
Their rusty dams bursting wide open

Its protective guard has been dented
By the blasts of recurrent sorrows
And pierced through and through
By Destiny’s pointed arrows

It is now unwaveringly set
On bravely marching on
To the beat of its own drum
Lifting a self-imposed ban
On its long overdue expression.

Will these copious waterworks
cleanse my soul or drown it in their overspill?
I pray these salty flash floods
Carry away all the poignant debris,
Sediments of heartbreaking tragedies.
Such a relief it would be!

I am eagerly signing on
For this radical emotional makeover
Where I will get myself back in touch
With the bubbliness of impromptu smiles.
