REQUIEM FOR DEFUNCT TRUTH

Requiem for Defunct Truth

With great pump, let us hold a funeral mass for the eternal repose of defunct truth,
Who, once upon a bygone time, was forced into the straitjacket of narrowmindedness.
It led to her premature demise by acute oxygen deprivation.
Ironically, her anorexic ghost is still glorified by many as ‘saving truth.’

Lamentably, we often mistake the vibrant identity of free-spirited truth
For dull counterfeits composed of mind-stifling and growth-stunting dogmas,
Quite ill-fitted to dispense rejuvenating bursts of spiritual stamina.

Their warped interpretations are prone to fall prey to the uncritical zeal of self-righteous crusaders
Who issue the living truth a death sentence by holding her captive under a suffocating bushel.

Due both to her timeless nature and the impossibility of a breach of divine trust,
Only absolute truth is devoid of an expiration date.
Her foundational and orderly principles forever govern All-That-Is.

However, many interim truth disclosures shine their flashlights along our human path
To guide our tentative steps with their flickering beams of understanding.
At the current stage of our quest for gradual enlightenment,
Their saving grace rescues us from some hazardous pitfalls of ignorance.

Truth self-revitalizes in the eternal procession of now moments.
She self-validates and speaks for herself with unquestionable authority.
She is resourceful in her versatility and practical in her countless applications,
Freely imparting herself to those who honestly scout for her.
At any given time, truth is what IS while lies are what IS NOT.

Let us go through our belief systems with the fine comb of skepticism
And scrub off the unbecoming dandruffs of the decomposing truth
To let through the healthy glow emitted by the living one.

Let us enlist the expertise of the Spirit of Truth, Jesus’ parting gift to us,
Knowing that it will quench our puzzlement in innovative ways
To meet our current needs and help us navigate our ever-shifting reality.

May this long overdue remembrance ceremony bring much-needed closure
By honoring the truths of the past for their selfless service.
Let us then put them to eternal rest between their worn-out book covers
And gently place them for safekeeping on the shelves of climate-controlled Akashic libraries.

It now befalls us to become prolific co-authors of modern works of soul-stirring content.
Under the penmanship of Spirit, such inspired writings will form the precious tributaries of the living waters that stream from the purest Source.

Long live the Truth!
