ABOUT ACTS OF VALOR
“Courage is the confidence of thoroughgoing honesty about those things which one professes to believe.” [UB 146: 03.4]
Thought Adjuster: “The above statement sheds a somewhat different light on the quality of Courage, which is usually viewed as directed outwardly and involving self-forgetfulness. You celebrate as heroes those who distinguish themselves by performing outstanding acts of courage—putting their life on the line to save others or protect their livelihood. Such was the type of humble heroism displayed by your Master Jesus, unbeknownst to most at the time.
“However, Jesus was courageous ‘all around.’ He courageously asserted God-centered opinions that significantly differed from the public sentiments where beliefs are traded up or down depending on the direction of the winds of life.
“Courage is also the personal attitude of honestly facing the truth of one’s being. Why is it so hard for many to do so? One of the reasons is that your belief systems are like houses of cards, precariously erected on the shaky foundations of some truth you believe you have identified. However, as is often the case, some of your professions of faith are debunked when you encounter overwhelming evidence to the contrary, which can inflict a severe blow to your prideful propensities. However, it is a cause for celebration, as truth frees you from the shackles of lies and deception.
“Facing the truth of your being is an act of courage, avoided by those who rather camouflage their persona to ‘blend in’ with what is commonly proffered as acceptable.
“There is so much to gain by being ‘brutally honest’ with yourself. Fear is the line of defense of the enemy, the sand it casts in your eyes to blind you to the reality of a much greater Light—including the light of your being. Search for your Inner Pilot Light and turn up Its dial, notch by notch. It will mightily transform how you view yourself. It will positively expand your presence in the world by aligning you with the Truth and nothing but the Truth.”
