THE SOVEREINGTY OF THE HEART
“The new kingdom which my Father is about to set up in the hearts of his earth children is to be an everlasting dominion. There shall be no end of this rule of my Father in the hearts of those who desire to do his divine will.” [UB 140:1:2]
Thought Adjuster: “Before ordaining the twelve apostles, Jesus gave them preliminary instructions to clarify that they grasped what their mission as ambassadors of the divine kingdom was all about. He made it very clear that it was the sovereignty of the heart.
“The power of this kingdom shall consist . . . in the glory of the divine spirit that shall come to teach the minds and rule theheartsof the reborn citizens of this heavenly kingdom, the sons of God. This is the brotherhood of love wherein righteousness reign. . . [UB 140:1:3]
If you stop and think about it, it makes perfect sense that a God of love would wish for the heart's supremacy. Indeed, truth enlightens the heart, but the next step in the rebirth process is the metamorphosis of human hearts once they become receptive to love, whose torch they are supposed to bear along their life journey—as Jesus so impeccably did.
The way of the heart is the divine way. It keeps in check any faulty intellectual reasoning, as human beings have become experts at justifying the way of the head at the expense of the heart.
Jesus’ ‘follow me’ invites you to follow the impulses of the divine heart—the divine presence that dwells within you with the mission statement of becoming both the master and the maestro of your heart, attuning your heartbeat with his and thus, perfecting your emotional circulatory system. Just as the heart and lungs work together todeliver oxygen to and remove carbon dioxide from the body's tissues, your intellect is there to enlighten your understanding toward better ways of moral living—not to talk you out of doing what is right.”
