The Inner Sherpa

Poem

IT JUST HAPPENED LAST NIGHT

IT JUST HAPPENED LAST NIGHT

Maman,

While I was busy sleeping,

You stepped out of the picture frame

That hangs on my bedroom wall and keeps you close to me.

You quietly opened the door of my dream

And walked into the room I was sitting in.

The effect of surprise was immense

And the tightness of our hug so intense…

It has been four years since you transitioned,

I still miss you dearly and wonder where you are.

I still feel the warmth of the hug we shared

And your sweet perfume still lingers in the air…
