THE DANGER OF PRIDE

“Of all the dangers which beset man’s mortal nature and jeopardize his spiritual integrity, pride is the greatest.” [UB 1223:01]

Thought Adjuster: “Dear child, let us talk about the above statement. Isn’t it amazing that pride is named as being the greatest danger to man’s mortal nature? Human beings tend to perceive physical dangers as the greatest threat to their existence. Yet, such is not the case. Why is it so?

“It is because they are foremost spiritual beings. Mortal death is the inevitable ending of life in the flesh. Yet, life goes on as you are spiritual beings who may choose to accept the Divine Gift of eternal life upon your transition to higher realms. However, there are serious threats to your soul survival; pride is indeed the greatest.

“Pride is a soul poison. It is a fallen emotion inherited from the Lucifer legacy. Pride is what caused Lucifer to betray the trust of his position and to secede from the Divine Family, usurping powers that were never meant to be his. Pride is what caused Judas to betray Jesus. Misdirected pride is indeed a great danger to the self and to others as well. This is the reason why it is so important to wisely select your leaders. Wisdom and humility—not self-adulation and pride—should be the criteria for the selection of a deserving leader—a genuine public servant.

“The Father does not favor anyone—or rather He favors all. Everyone is special in His eyes as everyone is a unique facet of Himself that can never be replicated. Misguided pride causes one to climb on a self-erected pedestal and to lord over others; it claims undeserved credit and dangerously inflates the small ego. Even the body posture of a prideful individual reflects that inner attitude.

“Everything that exists has been created by the Father. He is the anonymous donor who placed many loving gifts at your doorsteps. Yours is to wonder about their provenance so that you can send your thank you note. Everything you are and everything you have has been gifted to you. There is no room for self-pride in that situation but plenty for humble gratitude.”
