LOVE'S TRAINING WHEELS

Trinity Teacher Uteah: “Let us talk about the Fragrance of Love. Indeed, Love is a fragrance. Upon getting up in the morning, you take care of personal hygiene. As a final touch in your routine, you spray yourself with a whiff of perfume before stepping into your day. Its scent will become a pleasant olfactory identifier of your persona.

“This can serve as a metaphor to describe what the Love Fragrance is all about. I would say that the Golden Rule taught by Jesus exemplifies dutiful love: “Treat others as you want to be treated.” Indeed, this rule of thumb helps discern between right and wrong. By walking in the shoes of others, you train yourself to become more compassionate and make decisions based on their overall impact, which is a step in the right direction.

“In some way, you could compare the Golden Rule to your spiritual training wheels. What happens when you remove them? You may take some falls and scratch some skin. However, you will have trained your ‘heart memory,’ and by then, loving others will have become a natural reflex—no longer the application of a rule.

“Jesus taught about the Golden Rule, but no longer needed to apply it consciously in His decisions, as He was Love in Action. He naturally abided by it and this is what all of you need to learn at this unprecedented time of the planetary spiritual rebirth. Use the Golden Rule as a training wheel as long as needed. The day will come when you will be able to discard it, as your heart will be fully activated as a pump station of Divine Love—just as Jesus’s was. You will impulsively act lovingly! Such a growth spurt will generate a wonderful sense of good pride—the same type of pride felt by the little one who finally rides his bike with confidence, having graduated from the training wheels phase.”
